Brandeberry Wall. . Information gleaned from Infirmary Superintendent Frank Brandeberry's journal indicates he began building the iconic wall in May 1919 from stones found in local farm fields. Leonora Smith Friar, infirmary cook (1932-1937), recalled, “Mr. Brandeberry worked on that wall for years 'cause it was finished when I worked there.” Leonora also remembered inmate Johnny Huber helping Frank by washing every stone placed in the wall. Hired man Charley Crusa kept track in his work diary each time he assisted Frank. , Fun Fact , The Brandeberry Wall is over 580 feet long and made up of 43 sections, 50 columns, and 2 arches.
