Blacksmith Shop
Inside, this functional blacksmith shop periodically provides educational demonstrations using a working forge and early 20th century tools. The building was once owned by the Asmus family as a granary, or storage building of threshed grain, and donated to the Wood County Historical Society.
Oil Derrick, 1999
The derrick is originally from Ryerson, Pennsylvania. The steam engine, boiler, and drilling components were a gift from the Allen County Museum in 1996. The Oil Boom started in 1886 on the property of Dave Fulton in North Baltimore. By 1900, 14,000 wells were drilled. Between 1875 and 1900, NW Ohio produced more than 208 million barrels of oil.
