1. Breconshire Marker
Inscription. On 30 April 1894, the British Steamship Breconshire (formerly the Numidian), bound from New York to Tampa, stranded on the offshore limestone reef leaving its boiler visible above the waves. The 24-man crew was sheltered by the U.S. Life Saving Service at their refuge station located on the dunes east of Bethel Creek and one mile north of this site.
