1. The Prather Clinic Marker

Inscription. On this site from 1926 to 1977 stood the Prather Clinic, where hundreds of Americus citizens were born. It was built by Dr. William Stuart Prather (1868-1941). Voted the most valuable Americus citizen in 1935, he was also responsible for building the Americus African American Hospital on Wilde St. in 1923 and donated the land for the Americus and Sumter County Hospital on Dodson St. in 1914.
