At the request of Rigoberta Menchú Tum, the medal and the parchment she received as the winner of the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize were deposited in the Templo Mayor Museum as a sign of gratitude to Mexico, a nation that offered her asylum for several years, and also because at that time there were no conditions of respect for human rights, democracy and peace in her native Guatemala.
To date they remain in this enclosure, a millenary expression of one of the highest civilizations of our ancestors, in a vigil for Peace.
