Inscription.
African elephants have suffered tremendous losses over the past century due to poaching. In some regions, though, elephant populations are finally rebounding. How can we continue to tip the balance in their favor?

Why are elephants disappearing?

What will bring elephants back?

Poaching. Poachers are still illegally killing African elephants for their ivory tusks.

Legal protection.
Most large populations of African elephants exist within protected areas.

Habitat loss. African elephants must range over tremendous areas in order to survive.

Management.
Too many elephants in any one area can overwhelm the ecosystem.

Human conflict. With people and elephants living in closer proximity, human-elephant conflict has increased.

Engagement.
Local communities, partnering with conservationists, are finding ways to co-exist with elephants.

What can you do to help elephants?
