Marker was shown through the window for a time.
Inscription. The start of Route 66, A Chicago Institution since 1923, (unreadable) food and friendly hospitality is known the world over.
 
Erected 2003 by Hampton Hotels Save-a-Landmark program.

1. Whereabouts of marker is unknown
Marker was originally placed outside right after Hampton Hotels' "Route 66 Caravan" tour. It was later placed behind a window indoors. Recent photos (including Facebook posts) have indicated that the marker was no longer there.
