1. Model 1841 6 - Pounder Field Gun Marker
Inscription. The United States Army adopted the 6-pounder field gun in 1841, designated the model 1841. The all brass, 3.6-inch diameter smoothbore barrel measuring approximately 60-inches long with a range of 1,500 yards and lethal at 1,000 yards. The model 1841-proved the standard field gun for both the Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War (1861-1865). The model 1841 aided the U.S. Army victory in the Mexican-American War (1846-1848).
