Inscription. A country club was originally envisioned by the Island Development Company as part of the third division of Brigantine Beach. The design firm of Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek were selected to build an 18 hole Scottish Links style course. The course was first opened in 1927. Adjacent to the bay once stood a Spanish Mission style clubhouse with elegant furnishings and a large dining room. A marina and swimming pool were planned but never built. The course was renovated several times over its history, notably in the 1950's and late 1980's. Numerous owners controlled the property until the City of Brigantine purchased it in 2002 to preserve the open space and insure continued operation of the course.
