Ronald Reagan was in the early stages of his movie career in 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Already an army reserve cavalry officer, he was called to active duty in 1942. Lieutenant Reagan first served as liaison officer loading convoys with troops bound for Australia. Within a few months, Reagan reported to the 1st Motion Picture Unit in Culver City, California. During the remainder of the war, he helped produce over 400 training films. He was promoted to the rank of captain in July 1943 and was discharged in December 1945.
