The “Apprentice”
The “Apprentice” is an exact replica of the launch used to transport Virginia Harbor Pilots to commercial ships to ensure safe navigation of the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. The Apprentice was launched from the deck of the 122' pilot schooner Virginia and the harbor pilots were rowed to their ship in this 16' surfboat crewed by apprentice pilots.
The present day schooner Virginia is berthed just steps from where you are now standing and is available for public viewing. Welcome Aboard!
