September 11, 2001 was the greatest loss of public safety personnel lives in the United States in a single day during a senseless terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. The 9/11 attacks resulted in nearly 3,000 innocent Americans being killed.
This piece of steel from the World Trade Center (artifact number I-0073H) was provided to the Chesapeake Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #9 by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Lodge #9 has place it here to honor the Public safety heroes of the City of New York that gave their lives in the service of saving others.
