Inscription. This three-story limestone-clad structure was commissioned by Raymond Pace Alexander (RPA as he was known). The first African American graduate of the Wharton School and a graduate of Harvard's law school, Alexander took up numerous important civil rights cases in his practice, ultimately ascending to the Philadelphia Court of Common Please. Designed by Frank Hahn, the Art Deco era building at the important corner of 19th & Chestnut Street was home to Judge Alexander's law offices. In 2004, the building was added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places.
