• 1801 — Aug. 18, J. Van Court is the first white settler on land now within the borough of Cambridge
• 1815 — First bridge over French Creek at present site of Cambridge Springs; built by John St. Clair
• 1820 — Lafayette held reception for early settlers on present site of Hotel Bartlett
• 1822 — May 7, first postmaster appointed for Rockdale, then including a considerable area
• 1830 — First school established; built without windows so that students would not be distracted
• 1832 — First church established; Methodist Episcopal
• 1847 — First saw mill; population about 15 families
