Benjamin Franklin's elegant three story home once occupied this courtyard from 1765 to 1812. Today, two steel framed "ghost houses" outline the site of Franklin's home and his grandson's printing office. Viewing scopes let you see the surviving 18th century foundations.
Below the courtyard is the Benjamin Franklin Museum, dedicated to Franklin's incredible life and legacy. The museum store offers merchandise related to Franklin and early Philadelphia. The Franklin Court Market Street Houses feature a working printing shop, archeology exhibit, and modern post office.
Erected by National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
