1. Woodmont School Marker
Inscription. Woodmont School opened in 1931 on land purchased by area parents for $3000. Thousands of students attended in grades one through eight, and the school served as the hub of the community for the next 50 years. Many former students remember beloved teachers, principals and staff, and events such as spaghetti suppers, paper drives, field day events and annual carnivals. The school closed in 1982 and the building was razed in 1986. The campus became Woodmont Park in 1987.
