Brownsville Public School / Haywood County Memorial Hospital
Haywood County Memorial Hospital Here stood the Haywood County Memorial Hospital 1931-1974, given to the county as a memorial to Dr. William T. Wills and his wife Elizabeth Mann Wills by their sons, Mann Wills and Ridley Wills. Opened as a 30-bed facility, an addition built in 1963 increased the hospital to 50 beds. A school of nursing operated from 1931-1941, graduates receiving degrees as RNs. A new hospital was completed on North Washington and opened in January, 1974.
