1. 8th Street Bridge Marker
Inscription. This is the location of the first bridge to span the Big Sioux River at Sioux Falls. Built in 1876, the original bridge was washed out in the flood of 1881. The present bridge is an earth filled, three span arch bridge, which was considered an engineering masterpiece at the time of its construction in 1912.
 
Erected by National Park Service through the State Preservation Office.
