Golfing at the hotel was used as a form of relaxation for the guests. It provided a calm and peaceful environment for getting away from the troubles of everyday life. Luckily for the guests at West Baden Springs Hotel, they had two golf courses from which to choose. The hotel was equipped with a "Hill" Course and a "Valley" Course both designed by Thomas Bendelow.

The "Hill" Course was located directly west of the hotel. In the early 1900s, a forest — which was a wilderness of trees, vines, and shrubbery — gave way to beautiful fairways and manicured greens. The course followed the rolling hills of southern Indiana.

The "Valley" Course was located east of the hotel. The first tee was located right off the veranda of the hotel. Eight of the holes were located on the hotel side of French Lick Creek, a branch that splits off the nearby Lost River. The other eight holes were on the north side of the stream and traveled in a westerly direction.
