1. Springbrook Park Marker
Inscription. When the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA) established the City of Alcoa, a commitment was made to establish one acre of park for each 100 residents. Springbrook Park was established in 1925. More than 3,000 shade trees and 6,000 flowering shrubs were planted along city streets and in parks between 1917 and 1920. In 1973, more than 18,000 trees were planted. Alcoa was designated a Tree City in 1986.
