1. Florence Town Hall/Police and Fire Department Marker
Inscription. Built in 1948, this Contemporary Pueblo Revival building initially housed all town government administration and the Town Council chambers. The Town had a mayor and council-commissioner form of government. With limited staff, each Councilmember was assigned a department to oversee. The Town clerk and Town Marshal also had their offices here. The volunteer fire department was in the back with two bays for two fire trucks. Doors at both ends allowed them to leave from the front or the rear. Two jail cells were on the south side of the bays and cages for animal control were in the rear. The Town Council, staff and the fire department moved out of the building in the 1980s. The Police Department was relocated in 2002.
