1. The Crannell Family Garden Marker
Inscription. George and Helen moved from Michigan and settled in Titusville during the early 1900's. George was a pharmacist and business partner with Dr. B.F. Burkes under the firm name of Burkes & Crannell, and founded the Crescent Drug Store in 1913. It was first located on the northwest corner of Julia St. & So. Washington Ave. It was purchased in 1917 by H. Wilson and moved into the Indian River State Bank Building. It was resold in 1923 and relocated in 1925 to the southeast corner of Main St. and So. Washington Ave. It was resold in 1926 and continued to operate at this location as Fulmer's Drug Store. George and Helen raised four daughters and three sons. Their youngest child, Philip Almeron Crannell was born October 17, 1921 at the family home, 10 Riverside Drive in Titusville. Philip graduated from Titusville High School in 1940. He left the University of Alabama to serve in the U.S. Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He was the Postmaster of the City of Titusville from 1965 until he retired in 1981. The Crannell and Pritchard families have always been close friends. As a child Philip enjoyed Easter egg hunts at the Pritchard home, and served as acolyte when Mary Pauline Pritchard married James Schuster at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church.
