Mission Viejo in Orange County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
James Hill, Born 1963
California, United States
— Spirit - February, 2007 —
The eloquent artwork, Spirit, creates a landmark corner for the 38-acre Mission Hospital campus as well as the City of Mission Viejo. Grand, curved arches in soft brown, oxidized steel act as a frame for the artwork with clear reflection of California Mission architecture. Beneath the center arch are two pieces: the “spark of life” flame in textured steel representing Mission Hospital's commitment to Everything for Life and spiral surrounding the flame in oxidized steel reminiscent of the enterprising insignia of medical profession caduceus. These three distinct elements work in tandem to express a welcome to the essence of Mission Hospital and Mission Viejo.
Erected 2007.
