Robert began his career in the 43rd Infantry Division, 4th Platoon, Finschhafen,
New Guinea as a recruit. He carried mortar shells as a machine gunner.
The next station for Robert was with the 1st Rifle Platoon where he became a
scout and received his first purple heart. When physically able, he returned to
the 4th platoon as a machine gunner.
Robert transitioned another time to become a radioman in the F Company.
While with this company he sailed to Tokyo and Yokohama where he
patrolled the city as part of the occupatlion troops.
Never tiring, and always serving, Robert was part of the IPO Dam Campaign
(Manila), New Guinea Campaign and Battle of Luzon.
Another Generation will never exist like that of Robert Hynds.
We can never repay him for what he has done,
but we can offer him our everlasting thanks and gratitude.
