from its construction in 1867 to the early 1980s, it is associated with a significant person in the history of commerce of Lynchburg, Mary Evans Bobo, who operated the property as the only woman-operated and owned commercial hotel/restaurant in Lynchburg from 1908 to her death in 1982. It also makes a significant contribution to the history of vernacular architecture in Lynchburg as an example of a folk stylized Greek Revival dwelling of the Reconstruction Era.
