Inscription. This historic farm acquired by the City Council of San Juan Capistrano, in cooperation with the Community Redevelopment Agency, through proceeds of the Open Space Bond Issue, approved by the citizens in April, 1990.

The Joel Congdon House, built on this site in 1877, is the City's oldest wooden structure.

Also see . . .  Kinoshita Farm. During World War II, the Kinoshita family was interned in Gila, Arizona from 1942 to 1946. After the war, they went through legal action to re-establish their former home and farm in Madera and continued to harvest Thompson seedless grapes. The ranch was eventually sold, however the new owners still continue to grow grapes. In 2015, the ranch was filmed in a commercial for CLIF Bar. (Submitted on May 17, 2022.)
