1. Evergreen Cemetery Marker
Inscription.  
Established ca. 1854, Evergreen Cemetery is the first public cemetery in Ocean Springs. Known as “the resting place of the fathers and mothers," Evergreen Cemetery has accepted burials regardless of religion, race or ethnicity since its establishment. Some of the most prominent citizens in Ocean Springs' history are buried here, including artists Walter Anderson and Peter Anderson; civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Jesse Trotter, Sr.; and abolitionist, reformer, and suffragette Hannah Tracy Cutler.
