1. Broody House Marker
Inscription. If you wanted to have more chickens, some of the flock would have to be able to sit on their eggs, or brood, so that the eggs would hatch into checks. This would take about three weeks. The brooding (broody) hens would have to be kept separate from the rest of the flock so that they and their chicks wouldn't be bothered by the other chickens or roosters. A chicken-wire fence would have been built on the outside of the building.
