The marker was dedicated on 23 June 2016 just a few feet from the popular Park Diner's parking lot. Back when the camp existed 1862-65, what is today's Conklin Avenue used to be known as South Water Street. A roadside sign, honoring 137th NY Col. David Ireland and denoting the easterly end of NYS Rte. 434 (Vestal Parkway), was dedicated on 31 May 2017. A snow and ice storm on April 19, 2022 took down some very heavy tree limbs right next to the grave of Col. Ireland at Spring Forest Cemetery in Binghamton. Nearly 50 turned out for the Civil War Veterans Memorial there on Sunday morning, 15 May 2022. - J. Goodnough, Secretary, Col. David Ireland Camp #137, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
