Inscription. On February 11th Donald was driving a tractor fitted with a sweeper brush to remove snow from sidewalks. Donald noticed co-workers shoveling the sidewalks of this bridge. In an act of kindness he volunteered to clear the bridge sidewalks with his tractor. The tractor broke through the walkway of the bridge and he fell into the icy waters below.

Mr. Burton was survived by his wife of seventeen years, Marion, and five children aged eleven, seven, five, three and one. Mr. Burton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict, and had worked for the City of Binghamton for six years.

"Public service is more than doing a job efficiently and honestly, it is a complete dedication to the people you serve"
