1. Confederate States of America Marker

Inscription.
The first national flag of the Confederate States of America, also called the “stars and Bars,” was adopted by the Confederate government in March of 1861, during the war between the Union and Confederacy.

Florida seceded on January 10, 1861 and was the third of eleven states to join the Confederacy. The seven stars represent the seven original states- South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas. The seven star flag was used officially from 1861-1863.
