Bruce Adams co-founded the Bethesda Community Base Ball Club in 1998 with a mission to improve youth fields in Montgomery County and Washington, DC. the club built Shirley Povich Field and created the Big Train as the source of revenue for improving fields for kids. He co-founded the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League in 2005. In 2010, he initiated the Ripken League's annual Feed the Hungry Challenge that as of 2018 has collected 27 tons of food for the Manna Food Center to distribute to our neighbors in need. In 2016, Bruce organized the Ripken League's Goodwill Mission Trip to Cuba. He has been a leading advocate for youth baseball in Washington, DC through the Fields of Dreams after-school program based in Anacostia. Bruce and his wife Peggy Engel are authors of Fodor's Ballpark Vacations.
