Plaza de la Paz
La plaza de la Paz es un cruce obligado para quiénes transitan esta ciudad.
En siglos pasados esta fue conocida como la "Plaza Mayor" y en los documentos más antiguos de Guanajuato el mencionaron cómo un punto de referencia indispensable para describir la ciudad.
Alrededor de la plaza se conservan la mayoría de las casas de los principales vecinos en tiempos de la Nueva España, como los condes de la Valenciana, los marqueses de san Clemente y los condes de casa Rul y Pérez Gálvez, así como de familias tan longevas como los Alamán o los Chico. Frente a la basilica de nuestra señora de Guanajuato destaca lo que fueran las casas reales, actual palacio municipal.
Plaza principal de la orgullosa ciudad e irregular como toda ella, en conjunto con las edificaciones circundantes formant un triángulo. Tiene en su centro un pequeño jardin que corona el monumento a La Paz, obra del escultor mexicano Jesús Contreras. Don Porfirio Diaz la inauguró en 1903, otorgándole el nombre de "Plaza de la Paz”.

The Plaza de la Paz is a must for those who travel this city.
In past centuries this was known as the "Plaza Mayor" and in the oldest documents of Guanajuato he mentioned how an indispensable reference point to describe the city.

Main square of the proud city and irregular as all of it, together with the surrounding buildings form a triangle. It has in its center a small garden that crowns the monument to La Paz, work of the Mexican sculptor Jesus Contreras. Don Porfirio inaugurated it in 1903, giving it the name of "Plaza de la Paz"
