1. Caterpillar No. 33 Pull Grader Marker
Inscription.
Pull Grader No. 33 was designed and manufactured by Caterpillar Company from 1931 to 1937. It weighs about 5,780 lbs and carried a blade 8 feet wide. It was used to build and maintain roads by being pulled behind a tractor. Like most pull graders, the No. 33 was equipped with a steerable tongue, so that it could be steered independently from the tractor. This feature allowed the grader's track to be offset from the axis of the towing tractor which, along with the leaning wheels, permitted the grader to straddle sloped ditches for maintenance and road re-building.

Found abandoned on Camp Beauregard, this grader was likely used in the build-up for the Louisiana Maneuvers and other World War II training and deployment activity.
