1. USS Torsk Propeller Marker
This propeller is typical of the two used to propel WWII submarines.
The one displayed here is from the USS Torsk on exhibit at Baltimore Inner Harbor. Torsk sank the last ship in WWII Aug. 15 1945.
It is 7 feet 10 inches in diameter and weighs 3500 lbs. It is driven by a 1250 hp electric motor which gets power from four 1500 horsepower diesel generators.
