The Dey Mansion

This site served as Washington’s headquarters July, October and November of 1780. It was placed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places on September 11, 1970 and the National Register of Historic Places on December 18, 1970. First restored and dedicated October 8, 1934. Second restoration and re-dedication February 22, 2016.
Erected 2016 by Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Regarding The Dey Mansion. The house was originally known as Bloomsbury Manor. After the property was taken over by the Passaic County Park Commission, the Olmsted Brothers designed the Preakness Valley Park as well as the Dey Mansion garden and grounds. The Olmsted firm did the initial plan for the entire Passaic County Park System in the 1920's and it was built with the assistance of the Works Progress Administration in the 1930's.
