Inscription. On the eve of graduation in 1891, a group of Ohio State students planted five elm trees on the Oval. Since that time, students have continued to collectively present a token of appreciation to the University to celebrate the group's graduation. The class of 2000's gift is a fire pit shaped as Block "O" to be displayed in the South Courtyard of the Ohio Union. The fire pit will act as a gathering place where students, alumni, and guests can enjoy an evening or just relax.

Erected 2000 by The Ohio State University Class of 2000.
