Inscription.
The Byzantine Period was a time of relative peace, during which the Christian populations were consolidated and Christian institutions were established in the Holy Land. The man responsible was Emperor Constantine, who converted to Christianity in 313 CE and made the Holy Land part of the Eastern Roman Empire.

Churches were built at all the holy sites named in the gospels. The Holy Land became a place of pilgrimage for Christians. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre was dedicated in 335 CE.
