Inscription.
In memory of Helen Herron Taft, wife of President William Howard Taft (1909-1913).

Mrs. Taft was instrumental in beautifying the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. by planting the first Yoshino Cherry tree on March 29, 1912.
