1. James Witt Dougherty Marker
Inscription. An early settler from Tennessee, he bought 10,000 acres from Jose Maria Amador for $2.20 per acre. He was chairman of the first board of Alameda Co. in 1853. He had the Hawthorn trees planted in the cemetery, Carlo, his faithful dog, outlived him by three years and as he wished, Carlo is buried at his feet.
