Regarding Henry County Civil War Monument. Excerpt from the book Henry County Illinois by the Henry County Genealogical Society:
A forty foot tall granite shaft surmounted by a five foot figure of Columbia was designed as a Civil War monument at the suggestion of John L. Jennings of Cambridge, a color sergeant during the war. The monument was installed May 27, 1885 on the northeast corner of Court Square where many Cambridge boys had met to enroll in the 112th Regiment.
