1. About The Ely Square Bicentennial Fountain Marker

Inscription.
For 200 years and counting, Elyrians have been proud to call Ely Square the city's central gathering place. Donated by the city's founder Heman Ely, the square has long featured a series of fountains. Each unique to the generations they've served, the fountains have been focal points of civic pride. To keep the tradition going, the 100-member 2017 City of Elyria Bicentennial Committee adopted the Ely Square Bicentennial Fountain as a legacy project in honor of Elyria's 200th birthday. Sincere appreciation is extended to the individuals, organizations, foundations, corporations and city employees that donated their time and over $355,000.00 to make our new fountain a reality.
