Central Newport News , Virginia — The American South (Mid-Atlantic)
Hilton Village Trolley Roundabout
The great storm of 1933 washed out a large portion of the tracks on Chesapeake Avenue in Hampton, forcing its abandonment. The Hilton-Morrison run was also gradually abandoned in favor of modern bus service. By 1950 all the track had been removed. This asphalt loop, now used by automobiles, is a reminder of former times.
