"The Canoe" is an open plaza maintained and operated by the Hudson Yards Hell's Kitchen Alliance (HYHK), and owned by the Port Authority of NY and NJ. From May to October, the Canoe welcomes locals and visitors to enjoy the public seating and programming provided by HYHK.

In 2018 the addition of a large planting bed, curated by Design Wild, that now spans the northern section of the plaza, transformed the Canoe into a garden oasis. It is now the permanent home for Jordan BAker-Caldwell's Ascension.
