What's a Liège Wafel?
The wafels we serve here at Bryant Park are called "Liège wafels." They are chewy, rich and flavorful. This is the "other" Belgian wafel - the one the Belgians kept secret from the world. Sneaky little Belgians! It's packed with sugar pearls bursting into irresistible aromas and caramelized flavors!

Best Belgian Wafel in NYC!
In a recent contest between all Belgian restaurants in NYC, Wafels & Dinges walked away with the main prize - "Best Belgian Wafel." Amen.

What about the "Belgian" Wafel?
The 1964 World's Fair was the birthplace of the "Belgian Wafel," which really was the light & crispy wafel that we call the "Brussels Wafel." Original Brussels wafels are hard to find in America. In NYC you can find them at the Wafels & Dinges trucks and in our East Village flagship cafe at Ave B and 2nd Street. Worth the trip!

What's a dinges?
dinges [ding-uhs] nown, singular/plural
Used when you can't remember the name of stuff or people. e.g. "hey, dinges, can you bring me some dinges from the store?"

Speku-what? Skepuloos!
It's our favorite dinges made from traditional Belgian gingerbread cookies!

In places like Dadizele, Zwevezele and Erps-Kwerps, Belgians spread this dinges on wafels,

pancakes or as the sandwich spread ("to spekulate").

Some people we know also eat it by the spoon ("to overspekulate").

De Rules for ordering at Wafels & Dinges?
1. First topping is free. Always.
2. Powdered sugar is free. Always.
3. Don't ask for pancakes.
4. We choose quality over speed.
5. Smile at your wafel, it will smile back.

How do Belgians eat their wafels?
We admit, Belgians are rather boring when it comes to eating wafels. They eat them plain, "Belgian Style." True story.

But here we're in America. Pile on as many dinges as you like. It's a free country.
