Le Carrousel opened to the public on June 11, 2002, and was created specifically to complement the French Classical design of Bryant Park.
Le Carrousel's menagerie includes 10 horses, one rabbit, one deer, one cat, and one frog. The lead horse, Granny's Folly, was named after a NYPD mounted police steed killed in the line of duty.
Le Carrousel is owned and operated by Bryant Park Corporation, and was designed and fabricated by Marvin Sylvor at Fabricon Carousel Company in 2000.
