Yoyo
America owes its fascination with the yoyo to Pedro Flores, a Filipino immigrant who came to the United States in 1915. The word "yoyo" is derived from a Tagalog word that means "come and go."

Jenga
The name Jenga originates from a Swahili word meaning 'to build.' The tallest tower on record was built by Robert Grebler in 1985. It reached 40 complete tiers with two blocks laid on the 41st tier before toppling over.

Scrabble
Inventor Alfred Butts decided on the frequency and distribution of letters by analyzing the front page of the New York Times. The highest known score for the game is 1049 by Philip Appleby from Lymington, UK in 1989.

Monopoly
The longest game of Monopoly lasted for 70 straight days, and all of the properties on the original version of the game board are real life places in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Bananagrams
The word game Bananagrams was invented by Abraham Nathanson, and its name stands for "Anagram game that will drive you bananas!"

Dominoes
Dominoes were invented in 13th Century China. The name we use today refers to a type of black and white hood commonly worn during the Venice carnival.
