Inscription.
This site was the location of a children's park and fountain, dedicated in 1992, made possible with major contributions from members of the builders exchange of central Ohio and individual donors whose names were memorialized on bronze plaques.

The builders exchange a local trade association with nearly 1,400 member firms, wanted to mark its 100th anniversary by making a gift to the community to fulfill the city's vision of a park for children. The park featured a fountain, a waterfall with a meandering stream, and an enchanted forest, which was the home to six mythical animals created by renowned sculptor Jack Greaves the bronze creatures included a unicorn, griffin, owl, eagle, lion and a dog.

The park was named after former Columbus recreation and parks director, James W. Barney before it was removed in 2014 to make way for the renovations to the Scioto River and adjoining parkland. The sculptures and donor plaques were returned to this green space in 2015.
