1. Christ Presbyterian Church Marker
Inscription.  Ida Saxton McKinley and her family belonged to First Presbyterian Church, which is now called Christ Presbyterian Church. Ida grew up under its teaching and guidance and later taught a large, popular Sunday School class here. Many of her Sunday School students became prominent citizens of the community. On January 25, 1871, Ida married Major William McKinley in this church before a large crowd of 1,000 well-wishers. The officiating clergy were Reverend E. Buckingham and Reverend Dr. Endsley, representing the Presbyterian and Methodist churches respectively. The church with the President building had been newly remodeled at that time, so the wedding was also a dedication for the new design.

Erected by McKinley Museum / The Canton Chamber Of Commerce.
