Inscription. Look down and you will see a short white line painted on the deck. We are now going to compare the size of the S.S. Col. James M. Schoonmaker to the Veterans' Skyway Bridge. If we could stand this ship on its stern with the bow (forward end) pointing straight up into the air, and place it next to the bridge, that structure would come up to the white line beneath your feet. As you proceed forward to tour stop 16, remember that everything forward of this line would tower over the top of the bridge. (Marker Number 15.)
